Pay to the ISP for your iTunes downloads!
There is a new speculation in Cupertino at the headquarters that Apple may offer a new alternative for US downloaders of iTunes Store. According to the new model of Apple, iTunes users will be available to download unlimited number of digital audio from the store in exchange of a static fee which will be included in your ISP bill.
On the other side, U2’s Bono decided to start a war on illegal downloaders with helps of Yahoo and AOL. He wants the ISPs to cut off the services of users who participate in illegal file sharing. It’s also claimed that Bono asked an old friend, Steve Jobs, to join forces against bootlegging. We’re not sure but Apple’s new solution may be a response to Bono’s request.
In the end of day, nobody’s sure if this is gossip or not but if this model is the next step of Apple in the digital world, I’m begging that AT&T won’t be the only ISP within this deal.

Hey, I'm an Apple employee, working at the HQs in Cupertino, San Francisco and a fangirl. I was always obsessed with Steve Jobs when I was younger, so I ended up being a computer scientist and working at Apple. And now, I'm writing what I've spent 10 years for.

I’m dissapointed Apple hasnt announce a subscription package yet. I hope this becomes real. I’d never download ilegally again if the fee is reasonable.
Why God? Why not a seperate subsription system?! Yahoo, napster and all of the other music stores have it, but they are not iTunes. Of course, Steve Jobs wont make much money out of a subscription option than the regular sales.
I hope it’s not an AT&T plan. ISP market is nothing like cingular market in US. In mobile service there are two major companies that share the pie. But there are dozens of major companies in ISP market.
Oh, for sure this is coming… when, though, I don’t know. The future of apple (and you can see it moving in this direction) is TV (AppleTV) Phone / Computer all working together… i think at some point it will introduce a ‘model’ for ISPs like you get for phones… (unlimited downloads, rentals)… i mean the ISPs aren’t going to sit by and let their bandwidth be hogged by all these companies so it makes sense. I think once the 3G iphone hits (with a remote syncing solution) we’ll see moves in this area.
Apple is always incremental… Film rentals first, then TV, then a subscription package, then music?
Sure, internet providers want to share the big pie. I’m sure in the near future, telephone service will be in the same situation.
